Human Remains ID Project
The Human Remains ID Project is a dynamic partnership between the University of Tennessee National Forensic Science Institute and the University of Tennessee Forensic Anthropology Center. Funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Human Remains ID Project is an easily accessible and searchable web-based resource and an online database of unidentified decedent cases in the Southeast.
Each case has been analyzed by a professional forensic scientist, ensuring that the information is as accurate as possible. The Human Remains ID Project is intended for the use of law enforcement agencies, families, victim advocates, medical examiners, coroners, and the general public. The database is available to search case information in an effort to close out cold missing persons cases. The main goals of this project are to give these cases increased exposure, provide reliable information for each case, and facilitate effective cooperation between clearinghouses, law enforcement, and the public in the common goal of identifying the missing and unidentified.
