Mandy Johnson, Specialist
Mandy Johnson is in charge of several different programs within the National Forensic Science Institute. Her primary responsibility includes the coordination and delivery of the 40-hour advanced forensic courses, such as Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, that are delivered across the country. In addition, she assists in the coordination of the National Forensic Academy, a ten-week training program for crime scene investigators.
Prior to her work with NFSI, Johnson was the Training Coordinator for the University of Tennessee’s Regional Community Policing Institute (UT RCPI). Johnson worked closely with law enforcement and community agencies in scheduling and delivering local and regional training seminars.
Johnson joined LEIC from the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) where she served as a training specialist. While at KPD, she worked closely with the Crime Prevention, Safety Education and School Resource Officer Units coordinating the department’s many youth initiatives. Prior to her tenure at KPD, Johnson worked in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) in Washington, DC. As a grant program specialist, she administered several federal funding initiatives to assist local law enforcement agencies implement community policing and other innovative crime prevention strategies and technologies.
Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Criminology from East Tennessee State University and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from Indiana University.
