Don Green, Interim Executive Director
Don Green became Interim Executive Director for LEIC on April 1, 2009. Previously he was the Program Manager for the National Forensic Science Institute at LEIC. This component of the University of Tennessee's Law Enforcement Innovation Center hosts the National Forensic Academy, a ten week course to provide training for police forensic responders. Additionally, specialized training courses in fingerprinting, photography, arson investigations as well as others are held off-site.
Don Green joined LEIC in April, 2008 when he retired as Deputy Chief of Police with the Knoxville Police Department having served since 1979. He has over thirty-one years of law enforcement experience. His assignments included Division Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division and Support Services Division. During his career he served as SWAT team leader and commander, on the Haz-Mat Response Team, Marine Unit, Bicycle Unit, and as a Accident Reconstructionist, as well as patrol and investigative assignments. He has been involved in training, both for KPD as well as on a national basis in areas such as leadership, ethics, community policing, tactical operations, school safety and homeland security. He has also published numerous articles for Law and Order magazine.
Green holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice, both from the University of Tennessee. He is a graduate of the 204th session of the FBI National Academy and the 28th Session of the Senior Management Institute for Police (PERF).
